Presented and sponsored by the Chesapeake Education Arts Research Society (CHEARS) in partnership with the International Analog Forestry Network (IAFN), Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance (UCFA) and School of Living, Heathcote Education Center.
Applications are now open for the virtual course and the 2025 Spring-Summer Intergenerational Analog Forestry Internships sponsored by CHEARS, with partners Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance (UCFA) and School of Living, Heathcote Education Center.
About the Opportunity
The International Analog Forestry Network (IAFN) and the Chesapeake Education Arts Research Society (CHEARS) are very pleased to announce the 1st Annual 2025 Intergenerational Temperate Mid-Atlantic Analog Forestry Internship. The course is a requirement to apply for the internship, but you can also take it without doing the internship.

Virtual Interns Commit to 2 Co-learning Activities:

- Present your AF project to Community

2. In-Person USA Internship
Commitments
Interns Commit to 3 Co-learning Activities:
- Complete Analog Forestry (AF) Course
Interns commit to take or have taken an AF course. Scholarships are provided for the upcoming 2025 IAFN on-line Course.
- Volunteer for 60 Hours of Hands-On AF Project Work
Work with co-learning partner mentors by October 31, 2025
Suggested Project Sites:
- Many Streams Co-Learning Farm in Stewartstown, PA
- Three Sisters Gardens & Food Forest in Greenbelt, MD
- SOL/Heathcote Education Center in Freeland, MD
- Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance (UCFA) project in Tayman Field, Upper Marlboro, MD
Individually chosen sites are also possible if coordinated with a partner mentor
- Present your AF project to Community



Important information and requirements
- Interns are responsible for all travel arrangements including obtaining a Visa if needed
- Interns must arrange their own room and board to fulfill on-site work
- The internships are open to local or international applicants
Benefits for In-person AF 2025 Interns
- A Stipend of $1500
- An IAFN Special Certificate Upon Completion
- Coaching by a Partner Mentor throughout the project
- Approved Supplies as Needed
These internships are meant to be intergenerational and we encourage a diversity of ages and especially encourage senior citizens to apply.
