About Carolina Sorzano Lopez

Carolina Sorzano López is a Biologist from Javeriana University in Colombia. Since 2018, she has been a trainer for the International Analog Forestry Network (IAFN), conducting in-person and virtual workshops for farmers in Honduras, Paraguay, and Colombia. For over 20 years, she has worked as a consultant, advisor, and public official on issues related to environmental land management and protected area planning in various Colombian government institutions, including the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, National Natural Parks, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca, and the District Department of Environment of Bogotá. She was an advisor to the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in the Reducing Emissions from Avoided Deforestation (REDD) Program in Colombia and a consultant for UNDP on incorporating environmental impact components in productive projects for the reintegration of FARC-EP members into the country’s social and economic life. She currently coordinates community environmental monitoring projects in the Colombian Amazon and forest restoration in the Andes with the Geoambiental Terrae Corporation.
