About Diego Alejandro Tapia Gonzalez
Diego Alejandro Tapia González (Santo Domingo, Ecuador, 1982) is an entrepreneurial farmer focused on innovation. Together with his family, he has emphasized research into new agricultural alternatives, cultivating important plants such as Ceylon cinnamon, ishpingo, allspice, cloves, and miracle fruit, among others. In 2008, he founded a company called “Ecuaforestar – Plantas Maravillosas,” which initially focused on the production and commercialization of promising plants. After several years, he took the next step toward processing products from his forest garden. Diego has created a productive model that combines environmentally friendly agricultural production using the Analog Forestry system with processing technologies to add significant value. In 2019, he helped establish the Ecuadorian Analog Forestry Network (REFA) to teach the methodology, principles, and implementation of Analog Forestry. In 2021, he launched freeze-dried “Zafru miracle fruit” to the market, becoming the first to develop this product in Ecuador.
