About Diego Irigoien

Diego has always been fascinated by how we can design systems that respect and regenerate our planet. As an industrial engineer with a master’s degree in sustainable design, he trained in the classrooms of the Basque Country, but it was in Costa Rica where he really learned to put this knowledge into practice. Since arriving in 2018, he has been fortunate to collaborate on various permaculture projects, first as a volunteer and later as part of a team. The experience of helping build a self-sufficient farm in Parrita, alongside the EcoVida community, was transformative. There, surrounded by nature, he understood the importance of working in harmony with it. Today, together with his wife Isa, they continue building their own home, a small oasis where they apply the principles of analog forestry. Their dream is to inspire others to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.
