José Gabriel Villalta Calvo has worked for FUNDECOR for 15 years, implementing all types of projects related to the Payment for Environmental Services (PES) program. He has also worked with SINAC, from the management of polycyclic forests to management plans for secondary forests. This has allowed him to perform tree diagnostics in urban settings, hotels, protection zones, for crops, and restoration, including in Panama. Building relationships with people and understanding what they want, what they know, and what suits them best is a skill developed over many years. Being able to advise people who already have considerable knowledge is truly rewarding.
