About Pablo Gabriel Mármol Rivera
Pablo was born in Quito, Ecuador, with ancestors from America, Europe, and Africa (a great-grandfather). As a child, he experienced varied landscapes, from the dryness of Riobamba (at the foot of Taita Chimborazo and Mama Tungurahua) to the humidity of Chiriboga (cloud forest to the west of Pichincha) during vacations with his grandparents. He remembers that in the house where he grew up, although it was in an urban area, there was a mini-forest with trees where he played and many fruits he ate (peach, lemon, tree tomato, cape gooseberry, spinach, etc.). At his grandparents’ place, walking in the forest with people, he learned that the water that springs from the mountain depends on the plants that live around it, that birds come when there are flowers, fruits, and branches. He attended school and university in Quito, where contact with nature was not the easiest, although he always sought opportunities to enjoy nature. After completing his medical studies at the university, he focused on learning about Andean Medicine and Good Living (Sumak Kawsay). Currently, he dedicates himself to living with his family, growing food and medicines, making cannabis-based medicine, and learning more about nature.
