The BIHKOV Training Center has as mission  to operate a self-sustaining training centre which attracts and empowers agricultural and environmental actors in the sustainable management and restoration of degraded and fragile ecosystems, and to increase agricultural productivity and income through the provision of relevant, high quality and tailored trainings.

As such it has as objectives to:

• Train and mentor key actors and stakeholders on the restoration and regeneration of degraded and/or fragile ecosystems to ensure sustainable land, forest and soil management;
• Build local capacity through training and mentorship to promote increased agricultural productivity and the creation of income generation/diversification activities through analog forestry and the certification and commercialization of forest garden products;
• Disseminate best practices through communication, exchange, partnerships and networking.

Within the Mbiame community where the training centre is located, over 600 women are carrying out forest restoration activities on their private as well as communal lands. One of our pioneer analog forestry demonstration sites established in 2008 measuring 18.5 ha, the Kitiwum forest is managed by the community for watershed protection.

This forest has made it possible for over 12000 people to have water throughout the year because the forest has led to a rise in the water table. In North West Cameroon in general, over 10 communities have been supported to implement analog forestry as a tool to protect their water sheds.
