Projects And Objectives
Named a private conservation area in 2021, La Floreana is a family project that began in 1998. Initially it was a pasture, then crops were planted such as cocoa, coffee, Amazonian cinnamon along with an interesting diversity of native and exotic fruit trees. A system of two lagoons was built where we have an aquatic ecosystem very rich in flora and fauna.
In 2019, Dr. Ranil Senanayake gave a workshop on the farm on soils and Analog Forestry (AF) which changed the entire perspective of the farm. Since then we have carried out 2 AF projects with different objectives: an edible forest and also an arboretum as a space to plant endemic seed trees in danger of extinction, and that together form a wild corridor that joins two rivers.
Our Team
We are a family of three, along with two people from the community who work one full time and one part time. We collaborate with an organization called Workaway where we have received more than 60 volunteers who all have received AF training.
