Projects And Objectives

The El Toledo Reserve focuses on three objectives:

1) Natural restoration of a Pochote (Bombacopsis quinata) plantation.

2) Production of wild fruits for human and wildlife consumption.

3) Areas with plants for scenic beauty.

The El Toledo Reserve is a venture that arises to provide better comforts to the students of the different public universities of Costa Rica in their field work processes or academic tours.

Over the years, the organization has consolidated as a point of interest for academics from different disciplines due to the wide range of research approaches, which are possible thanks to the socioeconomic and environmental conditions available and offered by the Hojancha canton.

Subsequently, the El Toledo Agroecological Reserve Foundation (FUNDATOLEDO, by its acronym in Spanish) was created, a community-based organization that is committed to formulating projects for the benefit of the communities.

We have worked with more than 8 national and 2 international universities; offering accommodation, food and more than 10 training approaches and / or talks, generating a unique experience rich in knowledge and field work for the student body.
