Virginie Dezetter is an intercultural communications specialist, artist and activist dedicated to fostering collaborative spaces for dialogue, strategy and action, and uplifting voices of change, especially towards climate resilience, gender justice, and community-led conservation and regeneration practices.

She was born on the island of Guadeloupe, and lived most of her youth between Burkina Faso, Mali and France, where she started to become interested in the complex and diverse relationships between human beings and nature in different cultural contexts. She then moved on to study philosophy, literature, intercultural communication, translation and interpreting in France, Spain and the United Kingdom. Through her work as an interpreter and documentalist, she grew closer to several international networks and grassroots organizations’ work, particularly from Latin America, in local and global spaces.

After completing her Master’s degree in Intercultural Communication, translation and interpreting, the Peruvian Amazon became her home and the place where she has been contributing to the work of community-based conservation organizations for over 6 years. Her main areas of focus have been on strategic communication, linking and learning, events and workshops design, planning and facilitating, collaborative data monitoring, participatory videos and community-led radio, governance, advocacy campaigns and more. 

This is where she learned about Analog Forestry and connected with the IAFN, joining the team as the Communications Officer. From this position, she is excited to contribute to strengthening this diverse and rich network, bringing forward the impact of actions on the ground, positioning Analog Forestry as a gender-just pathway for climate resilience, and accompanying advocacy processes.
