We want to restore the lungs of the earth: Putting women at the helm of ecological restoration
Dear readers! The COVID-19 pandemic is showing us the fragility of our food and agriculture systems, and how many farms have become industrial monocultures with palm oil and sugar cane, or are focused on the production of cash crops like coffee and cocoa. This has degraded the soil and destroyed native forest. As a result, local communities which were historically self-sufficient are now not able to feed themselves and suffer shortages of supplies. Many local communities, women and grassroots groups, are facing challenges that bring us to rethink resilience, food security and water issues.Learn why Analog Forestry is both a powerful tool against Climate Change & Gender Inequality in the 1st blog of GAGGA series “Putting justice at the heart of Climate Action published now when the COP26 is on!Read the blog of our Analog Forestry Promoter Luz Marina Valle from Fundación Entre Mujeres in Nicaragua here.

Forest Garden Products (FGP)A seal that values Biodiversity & Social and Economic Benefits for Analog Foresty and Forest Gardens Producers
The FGP Standard places high value in the recovery and protection of biodiversity and this is evaluated in the ecosystem through the use of indicators which record the presence of flora and fauna, as well as the health of the soils. The FGP seal has incorporated into its Standard the main requirements of Fair Trade, integrating requirements on social issues and economic criteria that guarantee fairer terms of exchange between farmers and buyers of FGP certified products. This includes protecting the rights of workers and providing a framework for producers to enrich their Forest Gardens and develop thriving organizations. More in this video.

Our Trainer’s Network Continues to Grow!
Happy to introduce Nilanga Ranatunga from Avissawella, Sri Lanka. Nilanga began learning about Analog Forestry and practice at Belipola Arboretum with the support of Dr. Ranil Senanayake, Dejan de Zoysa, Nimesh Chathuranga and Ajantha Palihawadana. He started his Analog Forestry journey in February 2020 with support of a scholarship gifted by Ms. Kandasami from Portugal, motivated to support Nilanga’s interest in Analog Forestry. Nilanga’s focus area is biodiversity conservation and sustainable income generation through Analog Forestry.
“Thanks to her and the staff of Belipola I learned, studied and practiced Analog Forestry through several workshops offered at Belipola. AF enriches my field as an agriculture graduate and I want to establish Analog Forests as arboretums and corridors of biodiversity which connect our fragmented natural forests. This will ensure not only economic income but also the conservation of biodiversity.  Now I am working on two sites near my hometown, and step by step, I want to improve my design and by using my efforts as demonstration, I want to teach people”.
New Video – Analog Forestry at Finca Fila Marucha in Costa Rica
Join us on an exciting journey of Analog Forestry where our trainer Milo Bekins and his family talk about the analog forestry restoration and how it became their lifestyle and a process of destiny. AF Trainer Amanda Calvo tells you more about how analog forestry provides tools to understand the complexity of forests but also ways to emulate it in a simple manner. Watch the new video here brought to you by Revela Productions.
