G.M.D.D. Jayathissa holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Science from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Science. She has presented research at key symposiums, such as the 4th International Research Symposium 2018, addressing barriers to organic farming in Sri Lanka’s Dry Zone. Her work with the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program included GIS, water system improvements, ecosystem development, and farmer organization support.

She currently serves as Assistant Project Manager at the Lanka Organic Agriculture Movement, where she focuses on agroecology, climate resilience, organic agriculture, Analog Forestry, food sovereignty, and women’s empowerment. Jayathissa contributes to wetland conservation as a tour guide in Colombo’s Beddagana and Rampart wetlands and works as an inception auditor at Sricert. Her integrative approach combines science, innovation, and community engagement to achieve lasting sustainability.
